How Zap-Lok Saves Time
Zap-Lok is the unique mechanical process that can
join steel pipe in less than 60 seconds under field conditions,
is used in the same service as welded lines, and which requires
no X-ray testing. Current sizes and grades range from 2 3/8"-12
3/4" OD, up to schedule extra strong, and up to grade API 5L
X-60. A portable hydraulic machine that can be carried by a sideboom
tractor or transported on a barge or lay barge performs the joining
process. A small crew of 7 workers can connect over 1,000 feet per
hour using this equipment. Zap-Lok provides the optimum method for
construction of onshore or offshore gathering and distribution systems,
transmission lines, and specialized pipe installations. Internally
and externally coated pipe can be installed with Zap-Lok offshore,
in every type of terrain, and in severe as well as sensitive environments.
Over the years, tens of thousands of miles of Zap-Lok
connected pipe have been employed in a wide range of services, including
gas, crude, sour gas, CO2, produced water, and potable water.
- Same service as welded lines
- No x-ray or heat affected zone
- Reduce environmental impact
- More efficient pipeline construction
- Thousands of miles in service
